The Museum of the Liptov Village in Pribylina presents an exhibition of buildings relocated from various villages in the Liptov region, particularly from the area that was flooded during the construction of the Liptovská Mara reservoir.
In the open-air museum, you can find wooden residential and farmhouses that showcase the typical features of traditional folk architecture, including the homes of a landless peasant, a shoemaker, a wealthy craftsman, as well as a village school, a fire station, and a blacksmith’s forge.
The dominant features of the museum are the Gothic-Renaissance manor house from Parížovce — the oldest preserved gentry residence in Liptov, dating from the 14th to 16th centuries — and the early Gothic Church of the Virgin Mary from the village of Liptovská Mara, which preserves fragments of original wall paintings from the 14th and 15th centuries.
The museum grounds also include an exhibition of the historic Považie Forest Railway.
