Liptovský Ján is one of the most historically fascinating villages in the Liptov region. The first written records of the village date back to the year 1200, with its most significant preserved monument being the fortified Romanesque-Gothic Church of St. John the Baptist, built at the end of the 13th century.
In Liptovský Ján, there are as many as 13 mineral springs, the most famous of which is the Teplica spring. This spring is known for its healing effects on metabolic disorders, stomach and intestinal diseases, gallbladder and liver problems, as well as high blood pressure and allergic reactions. Near the spring, there is a small natural pool called Kaďa, while the larger, man-made thermal pool Sorea offers greater capacity.
The water from these springs has been proven to help with rheumatic diseases, gynecological problems, skin conditions, and musculoskeletal disorders. The village is a popular tourist destination, serving as the gateway to the Jánska Valley, which offers numerous opportunities for hiking, as well as summer and winter sports. Hunting and fishing in the Štiavnica stream also have a long-standing tradition in this area.
